A hunt for a lost sheep turns into a competition between Hiccup and friends as they compete to become the first Dragon Racing champion of Berk.
This short animated film serves primarily as a prequel/companion piece to explain the origin of Dragon Racing seen in How to Train Your Dragon 2. The plot is lightweight even by short-film standards — a simple competition framing device with minimal stakes. The voice cast delivers competent, familiar performances consistent with the franchise. Cinematography is serviceable DreamWorks 3D animation, competent but not distinctive. Novelty is low — it recycles established characters, world, and tone with little new to offer beyond a gap-filling narrative function. The ending wraps up predictably with the expected outcome, offering no surprises.
