Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating
Danny Ocean and his gang attempt to rob the five biggest casinos in Las Vegas in one night.
The original Rat Pack heist film has a breezy, cool energy driven by the star power of Sinatra, Martin, and Davis Jr., but the plot is fairly thin and episodic. The ending is famously anticlimactic and deflating, feeling more like a punchline than a satisfying conclusion. Cinematography is functional but unremarkable for the era. Its novelty lies mainly in the Rat Pack chemistry and Las Vegas glamour rather than any particularly innovative filmmaking. A curiosity piece more celebrated for its cultural moment than its craft.
