A pair of cops investigating a drug invasion stumble upon a mysterious bank vault.
The Trust is a modest crime thriller elevated somewhat by the presence of Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood, whose odd-couple chemistry provides some entertainment. The plot is fairly predictable heist/dirty cop territory that doesn't break much new ground, and the Las Vegas setting is underutilized. The cinematography is functional but unremarkable. The ending takes a darker turn than expected which gives it a slight edge over pure formula, but overall the film feels like a mid-tier direct-to-video effort that coasts on its leads' charisma without offering much distinctiveness.
