Quartile rating: 5.5/10 · 1 rating
An assassin forges an unlikely partnership with one of his targets: a woman seeking revenge for the murder of her family.
The Hunter's Prayer is a fairly formulaic assassin-protects-target thriller that treads well-worn genre ground. The plot offers little surprise, recycling familiar beats of betrayal and survival without meaningful twists. Sam Worthington delivers a competent but unremarkable performance, while Odeya Rush provides the film's strongest acting work. Visually it's competent with decent European location photography but nothing distinctive. The concept of a drug-addicted hitman protecting a teenager has been explored in similar films, and the ending resolves predictably without resonance. A workmanlike genre entry that satisfies basic thriller requirements without excelling in any category.
