Eddie, Dov, and Yvan are back, still working in Paris' Sentier textile district, This time they're confronting the high-stakes world of large distribution after striking a deal with Eurodiscount, a European hypermarket chain.
A straightforward sequel to the French comedy hit, 'Would I Lie to You? 2' returns the beloved Sephardic Jewish community characters to familiar territory in the Sentier district. The plot is a by-the-numbers continuation that trades on the charm of the original without introducing much that is fresh — the hypermarket deal storyline is functional but uninspired. The ensemble cast brings warmth and comic timing that elevates the material above its formulaic structure, but the cinematography is workmanlike at best. As a sequel, it lacks the novelty and surprise of the original's cultural specificity. The ending resolves things comfortably but without particular wit or resonance, typical of a crowd-pleasing franchise entry.
