The Quartile Take

Spider-Man: Homecoming is a likable, breezy entry that refreshingly leans into the high-school-movie genre rather than yet another origin story. Tom Holland brings genuine youthful energy, and Michael Keaton's Vulture is one of the MCU's better villains with a grounded, working-class motivation. However, the plot is fairly standard MCU fare — stakes remain modest and the story hits familiar beats. Cinematography is competent but unremarkable, typical of MCU house style. The twist reveal midpoint is a genuine highlight that elevates the Ending above average, though the climax itself is a bit chaotic. Novelty gets credit for the John Hughes-inspired tone and refreshingly street-level scope, but it's still firmly within the MCU formula.
