A stuffy businessman finds himself trapped inside the body of his family's cat.
Nine Lives is a formulaic family fantasy-comedy with a well-worn body-switch premise offering nothing distinctive. The plot is paint-by-numbers: workaholic dad learns to appreciate family after supernatural transformation. The acting from Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Garner feels phoned-in, constrained by a thin script. Cinematography is serviceable but unremarkable, relying heavily on CGI cat footage. Novelty is low as the concept directly recycles Freaky Friday and similar body-swap comedies without meaningful reinvention. The ending is predictable and saccharine, resolving exactly as expected with zero subversion.
