As his wedding day approaches, Ben heads to Miami with his soon-to-be brother-in-law James to bring down a drug dealer who's supplying the dealers of Atlanta with product.
Ride Along 2 is a textbook by-the-numbers sequel that recycles the buddy-cop formula of the original with little invention. The plot is a generic drug-dealer takedown with predictable beats and Miami scenery doing little to freshen things up. Ice Cube and Kevin Hart have serviceable chemistry and Hart delivers his usual high-energy comedic performance, keeping the acting passable. Cinematography is functional at best — competent genre work without distinctive visual choices. Novelty is genuinely low: this is a formulaic sequel that retreads the same dynamic, jokes, and structure as the first film. The ending wraps up tidily but without any memorable or surprising payoff, landing squarely in forgettable territory.
