Undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs, who has a lot of enemies, is caught in a high stakes web of corrupt cops and the mob-controlled casino underground. When a heist goes wrong, a crew of homicidal gangsters kidnap Downs’ teenage son T. In one sleepless night, Downs will have to rescue his son, evade an internal affairs investigation, and bring the kidnappers to justice.

The Quartile Take

Sleepless is a fairly formulaic action-thriller that hits familiar beats: corrupt cops, kidnapped kid, one frantic night to set things right. The Las Vegas casino setting adds some visual flair and the cinematography captures the neon-lit environment reasonably well, but the plot is derivative and riddled with contrivances borrowed from better genre entries (it's a remake of the French film Nuit Blanche). The acting is serviceable but unremarkable — Jamie Foxx goes through the motions and the supporting cast doesn't elevate the material. Novelty is low given its remake status and paint-by-numbers execution. The ending resolves things predictably without much payoff or surprise, leaving little impression.
