Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating
A girl falls for the "perfect" guy, who happens to have a very fatal flaw: he's a hitman on the run from the crime cartels who employ him.
Mr. Right is a quirky action-romcom with a fun premise — a hitman who refuses to kill for bad guys — but the plot is thin and predictable, relying heavily on the charm of its leads rather than story substance. Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick bring real energy and chemistry, elevating the material above what it deserves on paper. The cinematography is competent but unremarkable for the genre. The film has some novelty in its breezy, offbeat tone and Rockwell's eccentric physicality, but it doesn't fully commit to being as weird or inventive as it wants to be. The ending feels rushed and unsatisfying, failing to pay off the setup in a meaningful way.
