September, 1945. Sebastian impatiently waits for the return of his friend Angelina, whom he has not seen for two years. When the plane carrying the young woman to her small village in the Alps is reported to have crashed in the mountains, Sebastian is convinced that Angelina is still alive. Along with his faithful dog Belle, Sebastian embarks on the most dangerous adventure of his life.
The Alpine cinematography is the film's clear standout, with sweeping mountain vistas that give the adventure genuine visual grandeur. The plot is a serviceable sequel — a missing-person rescue in the Alps — that hits familiar beats from the first film without significantly expanding the mythology. Acting from the child lead and supporting cast is competent for a family adventure but unremarkable. Novelty is low; it recycles the boy-and-dog dynamic and post-WWII setting of its predecessor with little new conceptual ground. The ending resolves neatly and warmly but predictably, in keeping with the genre's conventions.
