A father is without the means to pay for his daughter's medical treatment. As a last resort, he partners with a greedy co-worker to rob a casino. When things go awry they're forced to hijack a city bus.
Heist (2015) is a competent but formulaic straight-to-VOD action thriller. The desperate-father premise is well-worn, the casino robbery escalating to a bus hijacking feels contrived, and the script hits predictable beats throughout. The cast (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Dave Bautista, Robert De Niro) is serviceable but largely phoning it in, with De Niro especially underused in a paycheck role. Cinematography is functional genre work with nothing visually distinctive. The film offers little that hasn't been seen before in the action-crime space, and the resolution is telegraphed well in advance. A passable but unremarkable entry in the crowded mid-budget heist-thriller category.
