After he and his wife are murdered, marine Ray Garrison is resurrected by a team of scientists. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman, biotech killing machine—'Bloodshot'. As Ray first trains with fellow super-soldiers, he cannot recall anything from his former life. But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both him and his wife, he breaks out of the facility to get revenge, only to discover that there's more to the conspiracy than he thought.
Bloodshot is a fairly by-the-numbers comic book adaptation that struggles to distinguish itself in a crowded superhero market. The plot has an interesting memory-manipulation twist but ultimately devolves into generic revenge thriller territory with predictable beats. Vin Diesel delivers his standard stoic performance, and the supporting cast is serviceable but unremarkable. Cinematography is competent with some solid action sequences and decent VFX work for its budget, keeping it slightly above average visually. The nanotechnology concept and memory loop premise offer a modest hook, but the execution feels derivative of superior sci-fi action films. The ending resolves in an unsatisfying, formulaic fashion that prioritizes sequel setup over meaningful closure.
