When Gummer is hired to capture a deadly creature terrorizing South Africa, he and his new sidekick, Travis Welker, engage in another battle of survival against the fiercely aggressive Graboids.
Tremors 5: Bloodlines is a straight-to-video sequel that largely recycles the formula of the original while transplanting it to South Africa. The plot offers little beyond the familiar Graboid-hunting template with minimal stakes or surprise. Michael Gross returns as Burt Gummer but the reduced budget and made-for-video production shows in the acting quality and visual execution. Cinematography is functional but uninspired, lacking the wit and cleverness of the original. The South Africa setting provides a slight change of scenery but is underutilized. The ending is predictable and plays it safe. Across the board, this is a passable but formulaic entry that coasts on franchise goodwill.
