The Quartile Take

Wilson is a quirky, character-driven adaptation of Daniel Clowes' graphic novel, led by Woody Harrelson's committed performance as the insufferable yet oddly sympathetic title character. The plot meanders without strong narrative momentum, and the episodic structure — faithful to the source material — struggles to translate to screen cohesion. Cinematography is unremarkable and functional at best. Novelty gets a modest bump for Clowes' distinctively misanthropic voice and the film's willingness to be genuinely uncomfortable with its protagonist, though the execution doesn't fully capitalize on the source's uniqueness. The ending feels abrupt and unsatisfying, leaving threads unresolved without earning its ambiguity.
