Bahubali 2 delivers spectacular large-scale visuals and set pieces that are genuinely exceptional for Indian cinema, with sweeping battle sequences and grand production design earning top marks for cinematography. The plot resolves the famous 'Why did Kattappa kill Bahubali?' mystery satisfyingly but follows fairly conventional revenge and dynastic drama arcs. Acting is earnest and physically committed but melodramatic by global standards. The film is a massive cultural event but follows well-worn epic fantasy tropes, and the conclusion, while crowd-pleasing, is fairly predictable once the backstory is revealed.
