Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
A dad forms a bitter rivalry with his daughter's young rich boyfriend.
Why Him? is a broadly competent but formulaic father-vs-boyfriend comedy that leans heavily on crude humor and an obvious central conflict. Franco and Cranston have decent chemistry and commit to their roles, elevating what is otherwise a thin, predictable script. The cinematography is functional at best — generic setups suited to a studio comedy. The premise recycles familiar generational-clash territory with little reinvention, and the resolution is telegraphed well in advance. A serviceable crowd-pleaser that rarely surprises.
