Frank Drebin is persuaded out of retirement to go undercover in a state prison. There he has to find out what top terrorist, Rocco, has planned for when he escapes. Adding to his problems, Frank's wife, Jane, is desperate for a baby.
The third Naked Gun entry follows the same well-worn formula as its predecessors — Frank Drebin goes undercover, absurdist gags pile up, a major public event serves as the climax. The plot is noticeably thinner than the first two films and the jokes land less consistently, showing franchise fatigue. Nielsen and the ensemble still commit fully to the deadpan style that defines the series, keeping the acting serviceable within the comedy framework. Cinematography is purely functional, as expected for a slapstick parody. Novelty is low — this is a by-the-numbers sequel recycling the same structure and comedic beats with diminishing returns. The Oscar ceremony climax provides some inspired moments and keeps the ending reasonably entertaining, even if it doesn't reach the highs of the original.
