Ninjas with bloodline limits begin disappearing in all the countries and blame points toward the fire nation. By Tsunade's order, Kakashi is sacrificed to prevent an all out war. After inheriting charms left by Kakashi, Naruto fights through friends and foes to prevent his death while changing the minds of those who've inherited the will of fire.
The Will of Fire follows a fairly standard Naruto formula — a crisis threatens the ninja world, Naruto must fight to save someone he cares about, and the power of bonds wins the day. The plot is serviceable and emotionally engaging for fans, particularly with Kakashi's sacrifice arc, but it relies heavily on familiar Naruto tropes and doesn't break new ground. The animation is competent and features some solid action choreography typical of the film series, though it rarely reaches the visual heights of the best anime films. Voice performances are solid but unremarkable. The ending delivers the expected emotional payoff without subverting expectations. Overall a decent entry in the franchise that will satisfy fans but offers little for those seeking something distinctive.
