Sad and lonely after the death of her mother, Casey would do anything to see her again. But when a series of mystic mishaps mistakenly brings her fashion doll “Eve” to life instead, it changes Casey’s world forever!
Life-Size is a pleasant Disney Channel TV movie with a familiar wish-fulfillment premise executed with reasonable charm. The plot is formulaic — grieving child, magical mishap, life lessons — with predictable beats and little surprise. Acting is the standout, with Lindsay Lohan delivering a genuinely emotive performance for her age and Tyra Banks committing enthusiastically to her cartoonishly literal doll persona, earning the film much of its goodwill. Cinematography is standard TV-movie fare with flat lighting and unremarkable composition. Novelty gets a modest bump for the specific 'fashion doll comes to life' concept and Tyra Banks' distinctive comedic performance, which gives the film a memorable personality despite its conventional scaffolding. The ending is warm and emotionally satisfying if unsurprising, tying up Casey's grief arc in a neat but earnest way.
