A war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown.

The Quartile Take

The 2018 Robin Hood is a generic, visually slick but narratively hollow action spectacle. The plot recycles familiar beats from the legend without meaningful reinvention, despite its modern steampunk-lite aesthetic. The acting is serviceable but flat — Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx lack chemistry, and the dialogue gives them little to work with. Cinematography has some energy in its action sequences with a stylized visual palette, earning a slight edge. Novelty is low despite the anachronistic costume design; the film's attempts at modernity feel grafted on rather than genuinely distinctive. The ending sets up a sequel that never came and resolves little satisfyingly.
