When three overworked and under-appreciated moms are pushed beyond their limits, they ditch their conventional responsibilities for a jolt of long overdue freedom, fun, and comedic self-indulgence.
Bad Moms is a fairly formulaic raunchy comedy that follows a predictable arc of repressed adults breaking free from social expectations. The plot hits every expected beat without much surprise, and the cinematography is workmanlike at best. Where it earns credit is in its cast — Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, and Kristen Bell have genuine chemistry and comedic timing that elevates the material. Kathryn Hahn in particular is a standout. However, the film doesn't do much new with the genre, borrowing heavily from the adult-rebellion comedy playbook, and the ending wraps up too neatly and sentimentally for a film that initially promised more edge.
