Three characters' misadventures in semi-deserted, summertime Rome: a dim-witted mama's boy falls for a tourist; a would-be womanizer struggles to find company for his sex tourism trip to Kraków; a hippie is drawn into his father's schemes to bring him back into polite society.
A light Italian comedy from 1980 with three loosely connected episodic vignettes set in a quiet summer Rome. The anthology structure gives it some charm and the Roman setting lends atmosphere, but the three stories vary in quality and the film doesn't fully cohere. Acting is serviceable in the tradition of Italian comedy of the era. Cinematography captures the sleepy city adequately without distinction. The novelty lies in its bittersweet, observational tone and the episodic slice-of-life approach, though it doesn't quite transcend its genre. The endings of the individual stories feel inconclusive and somewhat flat, as is typical of this loose episodic format.
