Quartile rating: 7/10 · 1 rating
The frustrating adventures of a humble employee who all the time has to fullfill the wishes and desires of his bosses.
The second Fantozzi film continues the beloved Italian comedy saga with Paolo Villaggio delivering an exceptional comedic performance as the hapless everyman clerk. The episodic plot is thin and repetitive by design, stringing together humiliating sketches rather than a coherent narrative. Villaggio's physical and verbal comedy is extraordinary, elevating the material far beyond its formulaic structure. Cinematography is functional and unremarkable, typical of Italian comedies of the era. Novelty is moderate — while the Fantozzi character was already established in the first film, Villaggio's unmistakable voice and the sharp social satire of Italian bureaucratic and class culture give it a distinctive personality. The episodic ending lacks any real resolution, consistent with the anthology nature of the film.
