Fantozzi is now retired but continues to go to the office where it is held up as a fine example of employees intending to do career.
A late-era entry in the long-running Italian Fantozzi comedy franchise, this installment shows considerable series fatigue. The formula of the hapless everyman clerk suffering absurd indignities is well-established by this point and largely recycled without fresh invention. Paolo Villaggio remains committed to his iconic character and delivers his trademark physical and verbal comedy with professionalism, keeping the acting above the level of the material. Cinematography is functional Italian TV-movie quality with little visual ambition. The retirement premise offers a slight narrative hook but is not developed with much originality or payoff, resulting in a below-average ending. A competent but formulaic entry for dedicated fans of the series only.
