Peter Rabbit's feud with Mr. McGregor escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door.
Peter Rabbit is a competent but unremarkable live-action/animation hybrid that modernizes Beatrix Potter's classic tales with mixed results. The plot is formulaic — a rivalry-turned-love-triangle that feels recycled from countless family comedies — and the ending resolves predictably without much emotional payoff. The acting from James Corden as Peter and Domhnall Gleeson as McGregor brings some energy, particularly Gleeson's physical comedy, lifting the film slightly. Cinematography is polished and the blending of animated animals into live-action settings is technically proficient but not exceptional. Novelty is low as the modernization feels more like a cash-grab on a beloved IP than a genuinely distinctive interpretation, relying on pop-culture gags and slapstick that undercut Potter's gentle original tone.
