History -- make that high school -- may repeat itself when Marni learns that Joanna, the mean girl from her past, is set to be her sister-in-law. Before the wedding bells toll, Marni must show her brother that a tiger doesn't change its stripes. On Marni's side is her mother, while Joanna's backed by her wealthy aunt.
You Again is a moderately entertaining but formulaic comedy that leans heavily on familiar high school reunion and wedding chaos tropes. The plot is predictable and recycled — the reformed bully storyline offers few surprises — earning it a below-average mark. The cast, which includes Kristen Bell, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Betty White, elevates the material considerably through committed performances, pushing Acting above average. Cinematography is functional at best, a standard glossy studio comedy look with nothing visually distinctive. Novelty is low given how closely it follows genre conventions without a distinctive voice or fresh angle. The ending delivers satisfying if expected resolutions with enough charm to earn a slight bump, aided by the likable ensemble.
