The Quartile Take

Roommates Wanted is a fairly conventional French comedy about a grumpy widower whose life is upended by a free-spirited young woman moving in — a premise well-worn in the genre. The plot follows predictable beats of reluctant cohabitation leading to personal growth, offering little structural surprise. The acting carries the film above its modest material, with the leads providing enough charm and chemistry to keep it watchable. Cinematography is functional and unremarkable, typical of mid-budget French comedies. Novelty is low given the recycled fish-out-of-water premise. The ending is warmly satisfying if unsurprising, landing on an emotionally resonant note that suits the tone.
