Dominic Toretto and his crew battle the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they've ever encountered: his forsaken brother.
F9 is a deeply formulaic entry in an already-bloated franchise. The plot — a retconned secret brother played by John Cena — stretches credibility even by the series' elastic standards, with characters literally going to space in a car. The acting is serviceable but wooden, with Cena adding little emotional depth to his villain role. Cinematography and action choreography are slick and technically competent, as expected from a big-budget production. Novelty is genuinely low: it recycles every franchise trope (family speeches, impossible heists, miraculous survivals) without adding anything distinctive. The ending resolves nothing meaningfully and sets up yet another sequel in rote fashion.
