Quartile rating: 5/10 · 1 rating
Travel writer Lemuel Gulliver takes an assignment in Bermuda, but ends up on the island of Liliput, where he towers over its tiny citizens.
This Jack Black vehicle offers little beyond broad slapstick and pop-culture gags grafted onto Swift's classic satire, stripping away nearly all the original's wit and social commentary. The plot is formulaic and predictable, the acting ranges from Black's usual mugging to underutilized supporting talent, and the ending is entirely by-the-numbers. Cinematography is serviceable with decent production design for the Lilliput miniature effects, but nothing distinctive. The film is largely derivative and forgettable, earning below-average marks across most categories.
