A retelling of Dragon Ball's origin with a different take on the meeting of Goku, Bulma, and Kame-Sen'nin. It also retells the Red Ribbon Army story; but this time they find Goku rather than Goku finding them.
Dragon Ball: The Path to Power is a theatrical retelling of the original Dragon Ball story, produced for the franchise's 10th anniversary. The plot is inherently derivative, being a condensed remake of material fans already knew well, earning a low score for originality of narrative. The voice acting is solid and faithful to the beloved cast. The cinematography and animation quality stand out significantly — this is one of the most lavishly animated Dragon Ball productions, with fluid action sequences and a cinematic visual flair well above the TV series. Novelty is low because despite the polished execution, it largely retells familiar story beats in a straightforward way without a truly distinctive new angle. The ending delivers satisfying action spectacle typical of the franchise but doesn't transcend it.
