This documentary explores the impact that food choices have on people's health, the health of our planet and on the lives of other living species. And also discusses several misconceptions about food and diet.
Food Choices is a competent but unremarkable entry in the crowded plant-based diet documentary space. The narrative structure covers familiar ground — health benefits of veganism, environmental impact, animal welfare — that films like Forks Over Knives and Cowspiracy have already well-trodden. The 'acting' dimension (presenter credibility and interview subjects) is serviceable but uneven, with some interviewees more compelling than others. Cinematography is functional and meets genre expectations without any standout visual storytelling. Novelty is limited as it largely synthesizes existing arguments without a distinctive voice or fresh angle. The ending wraps up predictably with a call to action that feels formulaic for the genre. A solid mid-tier documentary that preaches effectively to the converted but breaks little new ground.
