When a fearless enemy out for revenge unleashes a brutal and deadly new virus, BSAA captain Chris Redfield enlists the help of Agent Leon S. Kennedy and Professor Rebecca Chambers to bring down the death merchant and save New York City.
Resident Evil: Vendetta is a competent but formulaic entry in the CGI film series. The plot is a by-the-numbers revenge-villain storyline with little surprise, recycling familiar RE tropes of bioterrorism and zombie outbreaks in a new city. The voice acting and character writing are serviceable but flat, with the trio of Chris, Leon, and Rebecca feeling underutilized dramatically. The CGI cinematography has some genuinely impressive action set pieces and fluid motion capture work that elevate it above the first two CG films technically, but it doesn't break new ground visually. Novelty is low as it treads very familiar territory for the franchise and the genre. The ending resolves predictably with little emotional payoff.
