A fairly by-the-numbers entry in the direct-to-video A Cinderella Story franchise, this musical iteration adds a pop-star competition twist to the familiar Cinderella formula but doesn't bring enough distinctiveness to any single category to stand out. The plot recycled the well-worn stepchild-to-stardom arc with predictable beats, the acting is serviceable but unremarkable for a made-for-video family film, cinematography is competent TV-level work, the musical-competition angle gives it slight novelty over prior entries but remains formulaic, and the ending resolves exactly as expected. Solid middle-of-the-road family entertainment without genuine excellence in any dimension.
