Fantozzi Against the Wind (1980)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

The third film in the saga of the unlucky clerk Ugo Fantozzi, played by its creator, Paolo Villaggio.

The Quartile Take

The third installment of the Fantozzi saga delivers more of the same episodic slapstick misfortunes of the hapless clerk, largely recycling the formula established in the first two films. Villaggio's committed performance as the bumbling everyman remains the franchise's backbone, but the comedic sketches feel increasingly familiar and the satirical bite of workplace and class frustrations is diluted. Cinematography is functional Italian comedy fare with no visual ambition, and the episodic structure makes for an unfocused ending. A solid entry for fans of the series but offers little new.
