A true story of Samy, native of La Courneuve, who is out of love for Nadia, decides to climb Mount Everest.
This French comedy-adventure based on a true story offers solid performances and striking Himalayan visuals that elevate the production above its modest premise. The cinematography capturing Nepal and Everest is genuinely impressive for what is essentially a mid-budget crowd-pleaser. The plot follows a fairly predictable underdog arc — lovesick guy proves himself through an extreme challenge — without subverting expectations. The ending feels somewhat anticlimactic and conventional, failing to capitalize on the emotional potential of the journey. Novelty is moderate; the fish-out-of-water premise set against Everest is an appealing hook but the execution leans on familiar genre beats.
