Oscar-winner Michael Moore dives right into hostile territory with his daring and hilarious one-man show, deep in the heart of TrumpLand in the weeks before the 2016 election.
A filmed one-man stage show from Michael Moore, performed in Ohio weeks before the 2016 election. The format is inherently limited cinematographically — static coverage of a stage performance with little visual ambition. The 'plot' is really a loose satirical monologue structure that meanders and feels rushed given the quick production turnaround. Moore's stage presence and rhetorical energy are engaging enough, giving Acting/Performance a slight boost, and the specific political moment lends it some distinctiveness as a time-capsule document. However the ending feels abrupt and its pro-Hillary pivot landed awkwardly even at the time. Largely a curiosity piece rather than a significant documentary achievement.
