A womanizing lawyer follows his wife and son to a trip to Egypt in a last-ditch effort to make up for his infidelities. Also travelling to Egypt is a bumbling police chief who's desperate to keep his rebellious daughter from becoming a showgirl. The two meet during a Nile cruise. Calamity ensues.
Natale sul Nilo is a typical cinepanettone entry from the Christian De Sica / Massimo Boldi era — formulaic holiday comedy built around mistaken identities, crude humor, and predictable farce. The Egyptian setting provides some visual interest and gives cinematography a slight boost above average, but the plot is recycled from the same mold as dozens of Italian holiday comedies. Acting is broadly comic mugging rather than craft. The ending resolves everything tidily and predictably. Novelty is low given how thoroughly derivative the cinepanettone formula is by this point in the series.
