Now You See Me: Now You Don't (2025)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

The original Four Horsemen reunite with a new generation of illusionists to take on powerful diamond heiress Veronika Vanderberg, who leads a criminal empire built on money laundering and trafficking. The new and old magicians must overcome their differences to work together on their most ambitious heist yet.

The Quartile Take

Now You See Me: Now You Don't is a belated third entry in the franchise that leans heavily on the same formula of elaborate heist-magic spectacle with twist reveals and misdirection. The plot recycles familiar beats — a shadowy antagonist, team friction, escalating stunts, and a final gotcha moment — without meaningfully expanding on what came before. Acting is serviceable from returning cast but the material rarely challenges anyone. Cinematography maintains the slick, kinetic visual style of the series, which keeps it from feeling cheap. Novelty is low given how derivative it is of its predecessors and the heist-thriller genre broadly. The ending delivers another twist but it lands with diminishing returns after two prior films built on the same mechanic.
