Home with their newly-formed family, happy parents Dan and Jody are haunted by sinister, paranormal activities. Determined to expel the insidious force, they install security cameras and discover their family is being stalked by an evil dead demon.
Scary Movie 5 is widely regarded as one of the weakest entries in an already declining franchise. The plot is a threadbare, scattershot parody of Paranormal Activity, Mama, Evil Dead, and Black Swan with no coherent through-line. The acting is broadly panned, with even veteran comedic performers failing to elevate the weak material. Cinematography is functional at best, mimicking found-footage aesthetics without any distinctive visual craft. Novelty is essentially zero — it's a by-the-numbers spoof sequel recycling tired parody formulas with no fresh comedic voice or singular execution. The ending offers no satisfying payoff. This is considered one of the lowest points of the parody genre.
