Thieves attempt a massive heist against the U.S. Treasury as a Category 5 hurricane approaches one of its Mint facilities.
The Hurricane Heist blends disaster movie spectacle with a heist thriller in a genuinely novel high-concept premise — using a Category 5 hurricane as both backdrop and plot device is distinctive enough to warrant above-average novelty. The cinematography captures some visceral storm action with reasonable technical craft. However, the plot execution is generic and riddled with clichés, the acting is wooden across the board with cardboard characters, and the ending resolves in a by-the-numbers fashion that squanders the premise's potential. It's a serviceable B-movie that delivers on its absurd promise without excelling.
