Coexist (2017)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

An opportunistic music producer brings together a rabbi, a priest, and an imam to preach about peaceful coexistence through song. But he's in for a surprise when he realizes the religious leaders are far from saints.

The Quartile Take

Coexist leans on a familiar fish-out-of-water premise with religious leaders behaving badly, a well-worn comedic device. The plot is predictable and the execution is fairly standard for low-budget ensemble comedy. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable. Cinematography is functional at best, with no distinctive visual identity. The ending resolves in a conventional, unsurprising way. Some novelty credit is earned for the specific cultural mashup angle—bringing together three Abrahamic faiths in a music-industry satire is a mildly distinctive comedic hook, though it doesn't push far enough to be truly singular.
