Documentary about the art of film editing. Clips are shown from many groundbreaking films with innovative editing styles.
A solid documentary exploring the craft of film editing through interviews and illustrative clips from landmark films. The subject matter is inherently compelling for film enthusiasts, and the assembled editors and directors provide genuine insight. However, it follows a fairly conventional talking-heads documentary format, limiting its visual ambition and narrative arc. The ending feels somewhat anticlimactic, wrapping up without a particularly strong conclusive statement. Acting is not really applicable in a traditional sense, and the interviews, while informative, are not especially dynamic. A worthy educational piece for cinephiles but not a groundbreaking documentary in its own right.
