A crime syndicate places a hit on a billionaire's daughter, making her the target of an elite assassin squad. A small band of down-and-out mercenaries protects her, fighting tooth and nail to stop the assassins from reaching their target.
Triple Threat is a serviceable martial arts action film that assembles a notable cast of action stars (Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Tiger Chen, Michael Jai White, Michael Bisping) but doesn't do much beyond delivering competent fight sequences. The plot is straightforward and derivative — a protection mission against an assassin squad is well-worn genre territory with minimal character development. Acting is functional at best, with most performers cast for physicality rather than dramatic range. Cinematography is decent for the genre with solid fight choreography capture, though nothing visually distinguished. The ending delivers expected action beats without much surprise. It satisfies core genre fans but offers little that distinguishes it from dozens of similar Asian-produced action films.
