Unacknowledged (2017)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

Dr. Steven Greer presents brand new top-secret evidence supporting extraterrestrial contact, including witness testimony, classified documents, and UFO footage, while also exploring the consequences of ruthlessly enforcing such secrecy.

The Quartile Take

Unacknowledged is a Steven Greer-driven UFO documentary that recycles familiar conspiracy narratives, whistleblower testimonials, and grainy footage that have populated the genre for decades. While it attempts to build a case through classified documents and witness accounts, the presentation is heavily one-sided and sensationalized, offering little critical analysis. The cinematography is standard talking-head documentary fare with stock footage and archival clips. Acting is not applicable in the traditional sense, but interviewees range from credible-seeming to fringe figures. Novelty is limited as Greer has covered much of this ground in prior projects like Sirius (2013), and the UFO documentary space was already well-trodden by 2017. The ending opts for a grandiose call-to-action rather than a satisfying resolution or revelation. Overall a middling entry in the UFO documentary genre that will appeal to believers but offers little for skeptics.
