A guarded woman finds out she's dying of cancer but, when she meets her match, the threat of falling in love is scarier than death.
A Little Bit of Heaven is a fairly conventional romantic dramedy that follows well-worn territory: the free-spirited protagonist diagnosed with terminal illness who resists love. The plot offers little surprise, hitting familiar beats of the cancer rom-com subgenre. The acting, led by Kate Hudson and Gael García Bernal, provides some warmth and charm that elevates the material modestly above its formulaic script. Cinematography is pleasant but unremarkable, typical of mid-budget romantic dramedies. Novelty is low as the film recycles tropes from similar fare without a distinctive voice or fresh angle. The ending is predictable and emotionally manipulative in a by-the-numbers way.
