The Hangover crew heads to Thailand for Stu's wedding. After the disaster of a bachelor party in Las Vegas last year, Stu is playing it safe with a mellow pre-wedding brunch. However, nothing goes as planned and Bangkok is the perfect setting for another adventure with the rowdy group.
The Hangover Part II is almost a scene-for-scene rehash of the original, swapping Las Vegas for Bangkok with little creative reinvention. The plot is formulaic and derivative by design, recycling the same mystery-hangover structure with diminishing returns. The cast perform adequately but have little new material to work with. Bangkok provides some visually interesting backdrops but the cinematography is competent rather than inspired. The ending resolves things predictably and without the charm of the original's photo-reveal payoff. Novelty scores rock-bottom as this is one of Hollywood's more blatant copy-paste sequels.
