Red, Chuck, Bomb and the rest of their feathered friends are surprised when a green pig suggests that they put aside their differences and unite to fight a common threat. Aggressive birds from an island covered in ice are planning to use an elaborate weapon to destroy the fowl and swine.
The Angry Birds Movie 2 is a serviceable animated sequel that improves on its predecessor in energy and humor but doesn't distinguish itself in any meaningful way. The plot is formulaic — rival factions unite against a common enemy — and relies heavily on clichés. The voice cast delivers competent, occasionally fun performances but nothing remarkable. The animation is polished and colorful, meeting modern studio standards without pushing boundaries. As a sequel built on a video game IP, its novelty is quite limited; the eagle spy-agency subplot provides some fresh flavor but not enough to elevate the film. The ending resolves predictably with little surprise or emotional weight.
