The Quartile Take

Guns Akimbo is a frenetic, neon-soaked action-comedy that leans hard into its absurd premise — guns bolted to hands, death-game livestreaming — but never fully capitalizes on it. The plot is thin and predictable, hitting familiar 'reluctant hero saves girl' beats without meaningful subversion. Daniel Radcliffe commits enthusiastically to the lead role and Samara Weaving is a standout as Nix, elevating the material above its script. Cinematography is energetic and stylized, though the constant kinetic chaos becomes numbing. The concept has some novelty in its specific execution and internet-culture commentary, but it treads well-worn death-game territory. The ending resolves without much surprise or emotional payoff, feeling rushed and perfunctory.
