The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021)

Quartile rating: 7/10 · 1 rating

The Templeton brothers — Tim and his Boss Baby little bro Ted — have become adults and drifted away from each other. But a new boss baby with a cutting-edge approach and a can-do attitude is about to bring them together again … and inspire a new family business.

The Quartile Take

The Boss Baby: Family Business is a serviceable but formulaic sequel that rehashes the original's core conceit without meaningfully expanding it. The plot — estranged brothers reuniting through baby-spy shenanigans — feels recycled and predictable, leaning heavily on nostalgia rather than fresh storytelling. The voice cast performs competently, with Jeff Goldblum adding some energy as the villain, but the performances don't elevate the material significantly. The animation is polished and colorful, meeting modern studio standards without doing anything particularly distinctive visually. Novelty is low given this is a by-the-numbers sequel reusing the same secret baby-world premise. The ending wraps up tidily but without much emotional resonance or surprise, feeling obligatory rather than earned.
